Best high-eff budget tweeter(any type)

With AlNiCo Tannoys (up to HPD) the tweeter coil is 1/4 wavelength behind the woofer coil.
When taking account of xover phase shifts the output is in phase at xover frequency.

It is slightly different for their ferrite drivers as their magnet is not quite as deep.

Well. Coaxial driver it's the right choice for this moment. I have a tight budget....And very little time available. So any corners that i cut are welcomed.

I don't want to make another thread so...let's focus on the available coaxial drivers.

Co-axial is not a popular solution. Expense and compromises usually send customers away to non-coaxial solutions.

And that is where it matters most. But then why might it be different at say 500Hz or 3k?

several other brands now have those smaller PA coaxials

you have to face the fact that fore the midrange driver, when playing any kind of bass/lows the sensitivity goes down a lot
and if it really does have high sensitivity, its only capeable of midrange duty

these limitattions are 'generally speaking' more or less valid fore almost any kind of driver, to some extent

and maybe worth to remind that when you approach the limits of your drivers, everything gets more tricky, and difficult

I dont know what we are having this discussion at all , if Geddes says his speakers are the best just use the tweeter with the waveguide

The eminence is as shown in the spec a perfect performing driver very nice flat response, and what is remarkable good is the LF extension. I would not know a better one, despite it is very cheep.

The eminence beta12cx would do nice with the bms4550 1" horn driver, bms specs 800Hz XO for that one. And is still affordable.

I think it is better to have 96 dB and bass extension down to 30-35hz with the beta. Then have a 98-99dB one that only does 50-60Hz.

I've used the DE250 down to 600Hz with a first order crossover. Goes loud, no distortion issues. The only issue I've noticed was horn colouration at the lower cutoff, but that's not the fault of the tweeter.

What horn type / size were you using?

I disagree and it's on a 45cm waveguide. BTW, I normally run it closer to 1kHz, also first order.

I don't know.
At 600Hz the DE250 response is 18dB down and its resonance appears to be 900Hz.
I'd be worried myself and would not trust my ears in a case like this.
If it were my driver I'd be looking to cross it at 2k with 24dB slopes but that's just me.

The crossover was not exerting a great influence on the rolloff and I don't believe it is ideal in that configuration for a number of reasons, just not the obvious ones.

Well I would guess looking at that drivers response the crossovers influence was next to zero.
That's what would worry me. ;-)
