PULLEY - Update

Futhermore, I was not that excited with last year universal pulley. It was kind of big and some guys from last year group buy reported motor bearing problem using this pulley.

Wow.

There is two solution for the moment:
Buy the original Teres Pulley: 25U$
Buy the BIX Motor pulley: 12$ (I'm checking at the moment what shaft diameter the pulley accept. If it is smaller than 3mm, I may buy a 3mm drill and adjust them for you. Then I can sell them for about 15$. I need to get good 3mm high-speed drill, probably from www.mcmaster.com
If it is bigger than 3mm, there is just the Teres pulley for now.

Don't attempt to use a drill to adjust the holesize. You will ruin it for sure. If the hole is not concentric with the O.D. of the pulley, you will end up with vibration being transmitted through the shaft.
Brass is really too heavy for the small 3mm shaft. I made 2 different brass pulleys for both of my Maxon motors. The smaller brass pulley works great but the slightly larger brass pulley causes some vibration, and that is with a perfectly concentric pulley, FWIW.
I ended up using Aluminum. Despite what others say, Aluminum is just fine for a pulley. Don't stress out over exotic materials, use what works. Chris at Teres is your best bet for a pulley.
He may use Delrin, not sure.
I opted out of the last group pulley buy when it turned ugly, accusing me of trying to make money and so forth. That completely soured me of any future group buy dealings.

This is the PCB, ver 2.0 that fits inside the Hammond enclosure. Q: PCB Dimensions are W6.15" X D5.175"
If it is Ok, I'll send it for a quote next week.

All controls and indicators (leds) are on the front. You can use potentiometer (Bourns Serie 91) single turn or Bourns Multi-Turns (25T) trimmers. All the power transistor/IC can be mounted on the enclosure back as heatsink if you wish. There is only 2 screws terminals, one for the Battery input, the other for the motor output. It support 120V/240V
built-in charger. You can always don't mount the Transformer and use an external wallmart supply if you wish. Sorry, I cannot post a higher resolution image.

Pulley - Very good news. I got confirmation the the BIX Pulley accepts a 3mm shaft, so we are covered.

You will need to decide what pulley do you want. If it is the Teres Tape pulley, you're probably better deal directly with Chris Brady at Teres Audio, cost is 25U$

The BIX pulley is 12U$ and it is for a string. I can buy it at the same time as the pod.

I don't know. You can place your order directly to Teres. Best way is to call them. I don't see why they won't sell, let say you bought a Teres from an other customer and you want to upgrade your pulley.

You can pay using PayPal at chris@teresaudio.com. Price is 25U$ + shipping. For me it was 5$.

If you get the pulley let me know to update my files.

Guys, the pulleys will be BIX or Teres. Here the reply from my contact that is helping with the custom plate:

For only a small order of 15 pulleys using polished stainless steel the price would be $60 per pulley. That includes developing the G-code for the CNC lathe and the stainless steel bar stock. Again my neighbor is not doing this job as he does not have a cnc lathe. This was quoted by a shop that has this capability. This is the range of some of the pulleys I have seen on the web but at $25/pulley the Teres is a bargin and we should do that.

I think so, that the BIX and Teres pulleys are bargain and that we should go for it. So guys, email me your pulley choice.

OK, sounds like I don't want to use the large brass one I got before, so please add one pulley for me too. I'd prefer the Teres but could live with the BIX, so will take one no matter which way the decision goes.

Here picture of the BIX Pulley. It is in brass and design for a string belt.

One good aspect of its design is the thru hole that enable use of a puller to aid dissassembly of the pulley from the shaft.

The Teres pulley has a blind hole, making very difficult to remove without motor bearing damage.
