Reference DAC Module - Discrete R-2R Sign Magnitude 24 bit 384 KHz

When you got the Incorrect Image message after typing ‘update’ what did you do?

If you go into your uManager now what does the uManager prompt say?

Mine says: ‘dam1021 uManager Rev 1.05 20160222 FPGA Rev 1.19 Press ? for help.’

And won’t output sound, despite the lock LED going solid when music is played.

Thanks for your help.

I hit Y once again and then the DAM rebooted to v1.19.

I've uploaded the firmware on 19200 baudrate, but first you have to change the conspeed. I had problems with uploading the firmware, but with real serial port on an old PC with Windows XP and Hyperterminal, everything went well.

Hi,

I do have another problem. I set up two dam1021 for dual mono, everything shared, PS, i2s input. One of the boards always keep losing lock. For 5 sec they play both, then one loses lock, light blinking and when it locks back again the other one loses lock and the same thing again.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the baud rate suggestion, Flikoman - it worked!

I downloaded the 1.19 file using 19200 and updated and it worked first time - no 'Incorrect Image'. Now, on entering uManager I'm seeing both the uC and FPGA versions as 1.19. And its playing music.

Must have been my RS232 chain not being able to handle the high speed 115200.

For the record, I'm using a tablet running Windows 10 into a Keyspan USA-19HS USB-to-serial adapter and then 2-inch jumpers from the Keyspan to J10 on the DAM1021. Terminal program is HyperTerminal.

hopsing, suggest you try the 19200 baud rate Flikoman suggested and let us know the outcome.

Check if your positive voltage rail is either dropping out or going low.

That worked!
Thanks for the help! A great community this is.

Well, in 2018 I would not call 115200 baud high speed anymore, but I understand what you mean... :D

Great that you solved your problem though! I would advise to try other serial convertors as serial connections should not easily become critical. Many years ago I made a serial connection with my neighbor to play DOS games against each other (a cable in the air passing through windows). The connection was tens of meters without any issues.

Hello,
I made a little bit again. Here is version 3, it goes ahead.

hello, after made the caps mode with the hibrid caps i have the sound distorted, what I can see is I haven´t power supply between c174 c173 c172 c180 because i have a short in this point, i thought it was the caps but i remove 2 caps and they are all good. any thoughts

Look more closely for the short, it could be along one of the ceramic caps. Test impedance of the circuit across each cap, with a good enough multimeter measuring low ohms you can easily see which cap has the short.

My psu is +/-11,9v after my tps regulators so is not high, i think this type (smd) reg is not the perfert choice.

Not the perfect choice but given the limited real-estate on the board it's likely the only economical choice. I switched mine with discrete 3.3V sparko's as I was worried about excess heat sitting next to the clock along with some saying that the stock LDO being noisier at higher input voltages.
