Squeezebox Touch -- Modifications

Thanks Caad, I was looking as well to find Toolbox 3.0 to play a bit with SW mods of Soundcheck (yes, I know, I am a latecommer to the game...) Following your link in your last post, I could obtain, using web archive, the pages with explanations but could not download the soft itself following the archived link provided by Soundcheck in his explanations because of the dreaded robot.txt problem on the "wayback machine". Does someone have a solution how to circumvent this problem, or maybe would be kind enough to point to a possible download.
By the way, I am also trying to implement Caad's HW mods and have a question: I understand using smd components is critical but how much is one losing using longer than optimal component "legs" ? I mean, jitter at U14 and U34 will improve anyway with longer than optimal legs, only it will not be optimal, right ? It's just to know what is my margin if I cannot make it soldering these tiny guys the optimal way...Thanks!

I have tested with leaded COG caps with leads around 5mm and have to say this was not as good as SMD. So keep leads as short as possible. it is very important.
Regarding the TT3.0 please PM me.

Hi caad,

I have the same problem like jplch to find a download of the TT3.0. The "wayback machine" is not realy helpful, it says Wayback Machine doesn't have that page archived.

Do you see any chance to send me the file per email. I already sent an email to your private email address.

Thanks in advance!

Have a nice day!

Of course you are entitled to do whatever you want. It was your tweak and you decided to delete it. Everyone has the right to do whatever they want. I am also entitled to give my opinion. I do not understand your decision. There was no need to delete your work. You could stop supporting it but you could still leave the file and instructions for people. Anyway, thanks for your hard work you did for Touch owners.

TT 3.0

Hi,
I'm a Newby just bought my SF Amati and keen to try out the Toolbox for the SB Touch ;-) Does anybody has the bits and could send it to me?
Thx a lot!!
From Soundcheck's Audio@vise website (2011):

Squeezebox Touch Toolbox

NO Longer Supported!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately I can't support my Touch Toolbox any longer.

Why? I don't have a working Squeezebox Touch anymore.

You'll be 100% on your own, if you continue to run the Toolbox.

If you keep running the Toolbox, you keep running it at your own risk - as always (see also Disclaimer on the right hand side).

As ususal, the Toolbox can be removed by a hardware reset (black button on the back of the Touch).

And remember: The Toolbox and EDO shall not be installed at the same time!!

I'm still watching the Touch Toolbox Thread at Diy-Audio.com.
If you have any questions, meet me there. I won't answer private mails!

Thx to all of you, who tried and appreciated the Toolbox for quite a long period of time.

Note: If there is anybody out there, who would donate a SBT to me - I just need it for design, testing and support - I'd more than happy to continue this project.
I'd even consider to launch a TT4.0.

as you can read the tool is no longer supported, however I have the script still on my SB-Touch. If you would like to try it (at your own risk, as far as there is any) I can send it to you.

Good 'ole touch ( now even more tricked out :) ...or f'd up :p ) and yesss it's not U.FL connections, maybe for practice later...

I dust off the touch and added i2s out, pretty straight forward 30 min job. Doing some i2s work and thought something other than a pi/kali/hifiberry as a source would be good.

Discovered the i2s is limited to 24/96 and is also disabled along with the AK4420 DAC chip (an EDO option)...

Went back in, looking for a 2nd 24/192 i2s feeding the SPDIF... couldn't find it, or a chip providing SPDIF... while it's in digital out only mode, those i2s lines have no signal, except MCLK.

...or maybe I'm tapping into i2s too far down the chain... hmmmm

So just really curious, if anyone still remembers the touch hardware... where's the 2nd i2s, and what the heck generates the SPDIF... the CPU?!?

PS. apologies, bit of a blast from the past :D

My SBT display is very dull so I don't use it any more. I'd be happy to send it along to you but I'm afraid the postage cost would be ridiculous from Canada to Europe....perhaps we can talk via 'PM'?

this was not my request, but from Soundcheck. I don't know if he still is looking for a SBT ..... ? Although he resides in Germany, I think, so postage costs will be the same I assume.

Hi there.

If somebody would donate a Touch - I might offer TT4.0 - I still have it in the pocket.

Though I do think that any work on a Touch is waste of time.

Just a PI3+AlloBoss+iFi Ipower+Moode is sooo much better.... ...and cheaper.
And who needs that crappy display if you have iPeng or whatever app at hand.

TT40:
I basically removed all "clutter" from the Touch and installed simple and straight squeezelite + mods. That's been my SBT all-time best setup.

Enjoy.
