The new 250 ssd drive needs to be formatted for gentoo os.

If you are talking about just coping the music library, you can do that by sharing the ssd drive in settings.

If you want to place daphile os on ssd drive, use Settings, Firmware, New Installation. It will list available drives.

Hi,

I did use one week daphile. server has crashed What can I do?

Thanks for answers

Q6. The media server crashes.

A6. First you should try to restart with “Reset all Media Server settings” option and also

upgrade Daphile to the latest version. If that does not help, I can only recommend to “Reset

all settings to the latest firmware defaults” (bottom of the Settings page) or do a fresh new

installation on an empty drive.

I would first do a less drastic step - check all connections and restart Daphile. This was what I did when I encountered the crash message, and thankfully all is well.

Latency settings?

More questions from a new user trying to optimise Daphile player

For lower latency, do we adjust ALSA buffer time or period count (what is the difference)?

My Audio Devices setting show two sets of adjustments for Daphile and xmos USB. Do both need to be similar, especially in buffer and ALSA settings?

Good to know. Thanks!

When you boot up from the CD or USB drive, watch on the screen for a function that will allow you to get into setup. At one point it will list available drives. Select the SSD drive, it will be formatted for OS install. In firmware settings, you can choose the install location.

Only problem is, I don't remember if it formats the whole drive for the OS or let you partition it. Would be a waste if it uses whole ssd.
Best to run OS off smaller 4-8 gb thumb drive and have a 250gb library.

These are just a couple of suggestions. There could be other ways. ;)

Daphile creates a boot partition of a one Gig and partitions the rest for Daphile Data. If you are going to use an SSD, might as well put the boot partition on it. USB drives are reasonably reliable but less so than an SSD.

Not trying to read two things from one drive.

There's probably a few other good reasons. I suppose one drive is enough.

Data traveling on different buses? Sata vs USB?

Even if they are in seperate partitions on one drive, if the OS crashes, will daphile let you keep the library or will it swipe the whole drive? I'm not sure.

It's more organized? Each doing a dedicated job?

First off I'd like to say Daphile is fantastic, the sound quality and ease of use can't really be faulted. Thank you to the developer for providing this and for the continued improvements with each release.

Does anyone know how to force PCM to DSD resampling at DSD128? Currently Daphile does upsample from PCM to DSD ok but only goes to DSD64.

My DAC supports DSD128 & I can force it to upsample at DSD128 in JRiver so I know it can play at that rate.

Any advice welcome.
