Shigaclone MKII Black - The builders Thread

A 4-hole spot like the one for V1-V2-V3-V4 would be really more elegant :)

Something like G1-G2-G3-G4 :)

Ideas for MK3 :)

Although, isn't there a ground spot on the minireg entrance too?

Connect to J6 if you want to keep a star grounding layout. This will minimize noise as well.

Thanks for ideas.
As LC78601R is almost extinct, I do not think MK3 will catch new ideas.

Tibi

Today I did another test...actually the Siemens against the Vishay again.
The winner (Siemens with Siver Mica on board) has to battle a more equal situation now.....the Vishay with ALSO the Silver Mica on board.

I deliberately did not modify a laserhead with all four modifications in order to get a better understanding of each modification individual and of their synergy with others.

.............and yessss the Vishay played himself on top again...

This listeningtest gave me two anwers first of all that the Siver Mica is truly a nice upgrade and second that the Vishay is the better cap.....and that the synergy rocks....

No careful....I have a 100nF Vishay in our very first modification position (as Tibi suggested) and a 1nF silver Mica as bypass on the trimmer.

So far these two mods are staying...

The platform itself is ready for ditching because it skips very often....

I am normally not familiar with this phenomen since I mount new puck combo straight away but the failure rate of plaforms is seriously high.....

I had almost 5 different platforms with wobbling turntables... Solved it by switching to the Sanyo one and never looked back.
The puck also plays significant role in this. The better centered an balanced it is, the better the platform will perform.

Oh and the audio desk cd trimmer is an excellent if a bit drastic and tricky idea.

Scared and confused?

O.K. You guys are scaring me. What platforms are you talking about that have such a large percentage faulty? Are these the CD mechanics that we got with our MkII kits? If so, and there is a better all Sanyo one available, how do I buy one. I bought 3 mechanics with my kit, I hope they are good units? Please set me straight on this. Reliability is a must. Thank you.

No the 5 faulty ones were bought from ebay and had different motor sticker than those provided by Tibi. Still it is an indication that quality control might vary from supplier to supplier, or even from batch to batch.
The two I got from Tibi with MK1 had no problem with wobbling.

After a complaint from Nbivol and Robert about skipping and poor TOC reading after implying the modification I tested this morning again on stability.

I discovered that I tested in the recent past with only two cds.
So after feeding my lasers (three modified ) a decent amount of cds indeed there was a modified laser which was having trouble reading TOC......again it was the 100nF Vishay even after swapping platforms (again).

So no problems (even superb) reading with the 47nF Siemens and 68nF Vishay.
It does not make sense to me but I report it anyway......maybe coincidence...
(I am talking about the very first modification)

As soon as my 100nF Vishays come in I will plug it in the socket of one of my modified and proper working laserheads and I will know for sure that the 100nF Vishay can present a problem in some cases.

I found this on buychinatao website states it is CEC CD SFP101-16P NO XR5 will this work, there are several versions on site (3) . Steve
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

The X5R beast is right on the left side.
I think Dimitrios have a similar mechanic.

Believe me that this is nothing matter where you ordered them.
You must be lucky with this sanyo mechanism.
Had a functioning full modification sanyo laser mechanism.
Worked perfectly on the MK2 but not with my Shigaclone.
A new sanyo mechanism tried with my Shigaclone that worked perfectly.
Only the laser swapped out with a full modification sanyo laser and it works like it should

Who comes up with the smart solution …??
