F4 power amplifier

Zen Mod,

Simlics bypassed useing Wima MKC. :worship:
Changed the sound of the F4 into something very listenable. :D
Only question now is how they suit the F6.

The F4 soundstage is quite a bit more larger and enwrapping than the F6, which stays more between the speakers - so I'm wondering if the Simlic's and Wima's are responsable for that... I guess I'll just have to try and see...

Hey dudes. long thread but I made it through. I have a query;

I have a mid horn, 103dB and treble 110dB. I will be listening from less than 3m. Processing done by a MiniDSP with 2v SE, 4v SE or 8v BAL.

I've concluded that 8v will give me a satisfactory SPL when 'cranking' the DSP to 0dBFS, and I want to optimise my gain structure for the sake of the noise floor.

Here's the q: Of all these frontend options, which would accept the ~12v p-p of my 8vRMS BAL input? And then, to further complicate things, which might also allow me 7dB of gain for the less sensitive mids? I don't require both horns to have the same amps, and in fact I look forward to playing around with the freedom of very low power needs.

I have been thinking of the BA-1, with reduced gain, but have no knowledge of whether it could handle such a large input. Maybe just an opamp BAL-SE into the crippled F4? I understand how to run a stereo F4 balanced, but I'm not convinced of it's CMRR compared to a balanced buffer/gain stage, and with 110dB/w/m in the near field I'm concerned @_@

Thoughts?

Both can operate at only 6 or 0 dB gain? Just read the BA3B thread. Looks good. Any comment on the BA-1 FE at unity gain?
I investigated the pumpkin years back.

at 0db , look for buffer , not gain stage strangled with overall NFB

Are you looking for a fight bubba? I am just a couple of hours away from finishing mine!

sissie !
