The Pass Pub: The High-End Off Topic Thread

Been to hear a very good string quartet tonight: a Romanian band called "The Arcadian Quartet". Played Beethoven, Janacek and Debussy. They are very very good!

Ardbeg is vile muck! No wonder you feel knackered. Long time drinkers attempt to communicate in writing as speech is simply not possible. If you MUST drink Island malt, drink Bruchladdich.

I find Lagavulin or Strathisla will do also.

I used to be on the single malt wagon as others around me seemed to convey it was the upper echelon. I was curious, so I investigated and now I just let my taste buds do the thinking. There are some mighty fine blends out there n'cest pas? Is single malt another one of those, pardon the expression, "tube amplifier" kinda things?

Either way, cheers.

Like my friend Jimmy Buffett, I'm more of a beer and cheeseburger kinda guy but a bottle of fine red is appropriate when the event dictates.

Much respects, I wish the Wilson Audio plus $100,000 in electronics and cables, etc. folks felt the same way.

Having been to Islay a few times (beautiful place), I still prefer a good Irish (being Oirish meself)......the heavily 'peaty' whiskies are not for my palate as peat is better as fuel for an open hearth fire. (We call it 'turf' in Ireland). The Bruchladdich, although 'peaty' does not have that to excess. I don't want to think that I have had my mouth over a turf fire chimney......it ruins the taste of my cigarettes.

Sad night at Maison Weldon. Wifey was happily typing away when POOF!

I could hear it in the next room. Now the nice big shiny computer is silent and the little dusty one is all that's left. I sure had got used to multiple processors and all that jazz. I hope it is a simple problem with a PSU or something but I'm not sure. When something lets out a little bang, maybe it's telling me something?
