Hello guys, just a few words to keep the community posted.
I made some modifications and upgrades on my system based on :
Drivers :
-McCauley 6520 2" compression driver
-JBL 2226H
-Fostex T90A
I had a JBL 2380A horn, it was OK but I had to cut at about 800hz. At that frequency the JBL 2226H was not realy good and fast enough.
I decided to try with a much bigger horn and see how it would sound with a xover at 400hz.
So I made a 250hz horn with a JMLC profile.
The JBL were also mounted in a smaller box with different shape.
I use these amps :
-Loud : Crown K2
-Mids : Lab Gruppen IP450
-Highs : Lab Gruppen IP450
I use digital filtering using a Emu 1820M and Ozone.
The xover frequencies are now 400hz and 8000Hz.
The tuning is first made just by listening to well known recordings and then it is finalized with a Behringer microphone using Adobe Audition.
The final results are really great. This is the kind of sound I was looking for. It is a great combination between PA and High Fidelity. The dynamic is excellent and there are a lot of details. The 3D imaging is also very good (delays and phases are tuned digitally too). The mids and high are tremendous and thanks to the lower xover frequency the 2226H can follow the march... The T90A is amazing for the money by the way, I compared to a T925 which I found less good.

Yes I thought it would be better to do separate box for the horn and the woofer. The horn is made of MDF, the exponential part from plywood and it is filled with cat litter
D lighter than sand). So it does not vibrate, it would be almost impossible to do so, it is really neutral, you got the sound of the compression. Funny because yesterday in the garage of a friend we looked at several Altec horns, and they resonate so much....
I was not intending to do peaces of art but I did as good as I could with my tools. I wanted something that would work and would suit my standards (speaking of sound not design).

Will that be passive xo with 1000W class D that the true ribbon likes to not distort, or passive xo with 7.5W tube amp that the CDs like to sound smooth?

Don't waist your money on the Radian 950pb the Radian 850pb/ Emilar 320b/c is smoother and more detailed. This was confirmed to me by a Radian engineer and has beed posted by one guy who owns both and tested them on DDS horns. I had them on tractrix horns and they where very close to my Yamaha Ja-6681b Jonas Renkus is the designer of the Emilar/Radian drivers. The cheapest way to get a taste of these drivers is to bid on Renkus Heinz SSD 3301 drivers. They are almost identical to the Radian/Emilar drivers. When he came to marked with his own company "Renkus Heinz" he changed the fixation of the diaphragm. Dukane has rebadged those and they are frequently selling on the bay as Dukane 5A622 for quite cheap. Just try them out. Magnetar (Mike Bates) has been trough expensive drivers like BMS; TAD 4001, some Altec's and a few others and liked the Emilar 320b the best.

I was able to pick up a pair of excellent condition EV DH1A drivers for $75.00 each. Large format titanium 3" diaphragms with a throat adapter they can be used as a 2" or a 1.4" exit. Capable of 10 acoustical watts continuous output across its band. These are monsters which weigh in at 23.5 pounds each. I think that represents very good value. Best regards Moray James.

I put together a rough 300Hz conical horn, and no means to hear its results, can afford to buy one this week, ill have to live with mono for a while.
