Nah You can't be that bad I'm far from some guitar god myself but even the best of them have a very difficult time explaining what exactly they are doing. its just one of those things that is really hard to put in words.
That's because you have to teach your fingers what to do, and fingers can't talk...
For example, I'm trying to figure out sweep-picking. My brain can fully understand what's supposed to be happening, but its having a difficult time telling my fingers how to do it.
Methinks we should try to drag this back towards the original topic a little.
Anyone heard of Chantel McGregor?
Saw her live a while ago. She's rather good on the guitar.
kinda diggin' this right now

Ah yes, I used to be quite the fan of Björk. (pronounced Byerk and means brich.) Her mother named her for a birch tree. Her voice and style was so unusual that I collected everything I could find from her. And I now have a ton of rare and obscure stuff. It's too bad that she no longer sings like she used to. I haven't been able to follow her musically since she went totally techno with all those goofy noises she's into. But I did once see her live in NYC in 2001.and, well...the voice....
I've been getting into female Japanese pop singers. My current favorite is Salyu. (pronounced Say-Lou) Real name is Ayako Mori. She has a strong clear voice and isn't afraid to belt it out.

Another favorite is Maaya Sakamoto. A smaller voice but very prolific and she sings some in English.

Technically probably not quite the right thread but it must be mentioned that she plays the piano and violin but above all, her voice is her prime instrument, and what an instrument.
Since first seeing her on the usual YouTube serendipity tour - I was watching Hayley Westenra sing Pie Jesu and someone commented "if you like that then..."
I though that I would be disappointed, as usual but no, just the opposite.
I have found myself almost obsessed, she is that good. She brings tears to my eyes with her singing* - not the words but the beauty of her voice. I listen to songs by her that I would normally pass over - especially Christmas songs, loath them with a passion, except by this artist.
The amazing thing is that she is not just a singer almost without peer, a gracious and unassuming individual, a supremely happy and unaffected person, well just take a listen and see if you can believe it.
With David Foster
With Circe de Soleil at "The World Water Day. Ill and sloshing around in cold water. Being escorted off the stage like that is a rare honour reserved for VERY special performers.
Dark Waltz.
The violinist there is just 16!
Angel (Sarah McLachlan).
Nessun Dorma - breathtaking!
Imaginer.
Written for her by Lara Fabien! Quite a compliment.
Lovers
Only Time
All I Ask Of You
One last one - there are so many but this was on her first CD, home produced and now withdrawn as she has advanced so much in such a short time. A few copies around for around $2,000USD!
Concrete Angel.
Took ages to compose this as I have to listen to each song in it's entirety before moving on to the next one. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
*this is not confined to me, it is a well recognised phenomenon known as the JE effect. You can see it in her live audiences, lots of people wiping there eyes and smiling.
I have just read that she only does solo concerts now as a lot of other singers wouldn't follow her, they felt upstaged (no wonder) and she was relegated to doing the final performances (around 23:00).
