even using one crossed over with some array of light weight cone woofers - could be greate design.

Like this?
This is a prototype with back loaded horn for the three 8" drivers, wave-guide for the AMT (smaller than the current) midrange/tweeter and 360 degree dispersion for the AMT super tweeter.

Measured in the room in the picture.

Hi RayCtech,

Where can we find out more?
Another forum perhaps?

Nothing to be found..

When I have finished my "ultimate" speaker system with new and revised AMT drivers (I am building two sets) I may post some photos and measurements.
This is a three / four way system with a 200cm2 AMT supertweeter in a wave-guide, a 2000cm2 midrange(fullrange) AMT system in a wave-guide, and a 9000cm2 AMT sub system...
It is a dipol "floor to roof" system where the AMT sub system can be run as two independent systems for advanced room EQ.
In the first setup / evaluation I will use the digital crossover in Pure Music with 8 channels at 352.8k/384k@32bit.
The AMT supertweeter and AMT midrange are powered by 25 watt JFET class A amplifiers, and the two AMT sub systems (pr. channel) are powered by 75 watt JFET class T amplifiers.

Hi RayCtech,

Thanks a lot for the update! Please do post pictures/more info, when the speakers are done!

Have you considered having the AMT drivers for sale for the DIY community? I fully understand if selling complete speakers will have first priority, but that being said I am pretty certain that the DIY community would have a serious interest in such drivers - I would for sure! (I am currently using the Beyma TPL-150H AMT, and would love to have a 'giant' version of the this driver!)

I wish you good luck with the speakers!

Best regards
Peter

I do not intend to sell any AMT drivers or complete AMT speaker systems (with one exception - I may sell one of the two sets I am building now as I would need another house to be able to use both :-D ).

Are they available to buy now?

No - If I found a company I could trust - that would build and sell them they might become available.
There is now a SuperTweeter, a Tweeter, a Midrange (fullrange(upgraded version of the first release)) and a Bass AMT finished as designs.

A set of the first release are now in Bulgaria and they will be tested as fullrange dipoles in a baffle.
Even if only one of these midrange/fullrange units cannot play loud below 300Hz they may play at 80 - 90dB if they do not get to much energy below 10 - 20Hz.
When a 12" or a 15" driver will start falling in level from 200Hz in a dipole - the midrange AMT will go flat down to 100Hz or below and then fall in level as any other 12" or 15" driver.

I have been participating in the testing and I must say that these drivers are the first thing that has got me excited for almost 20 years of avid speaker building.

In recent years I have been more and more interested in electrostatic and magnetostatic speakers as well as fullrange drivers as the coherence that these provide has proved more rewarding for exciting listening than most of the other things we look for in a speaker. Their limited dynamic range has always prevented me from buying one but this might change with what I am hearing now from Rayctech's AMTs.

This is a preliminary test to verify that both drivers measure the same, the test baffle is 55X120cm baltic birch sheet, AMTs 10cm from top, 1/3 of the width mirrored. Definitely not optimal, again just a testing baffle. But what comes from that! Very smooth, detailed and dynamic sound, almost as low bass as my two way monitor which is a big surprise. Run full range though they cannot handle much power but listening nearfiled is holographic, full bodied and emotionally intoxicating-these are fast and detailed but never harsh and most of all sound natural. Now, I have always associated the word natural with cold and analytical when descirbing the sound of speakers, please read natural as "sounds like a real piano" with Keith Jarrett " the Koeln concert. We used Bruch violing concert, Jeff Beck "Who else", Diana Krall , Oscar Petersen, Massive attack, Jan Garbarek, Erik Trufaz and all the Shefield lab CDs we had on hand plus most of the stuff you hear on audio shows as well as weird audiophile music and there was not a single CD that we did not like. Everybody just kept asking how much it costs and how to get one. Listening was done on a Esotorec UX-1/Gamut D200 system with all Nordost top class cabling and also Naim CD player/ 30W SET amp with Furutech/Antipodes cabling.

I must say that these drivers have changed what I expect from a loudspeaker and I am sure the AMTs are something that needs to be evaluated thoroughly. Congratulations Rayctech, you have developed a world class driver, now please find a way to manufacture and sell it and you have my money immediately.
