Marantz CD63 & CD67 mods list

Ooh, looks superb. Does that jungle of red wire go to some kind of star earth?

Lol. The red wires that are starred are the raw 10v feed from the original tx. All but two will be replaced by dedicated psu's.

The ones that go up and over the board are the +/-12v supplies to the driver ic regs which will be tidied up when I find my hole cutter for the connector.

The regs are my superregs, with some spower's in there too.

Blue bath??? Now I know I'm playing in the minor leagues! What happens when the blue bath meets the red tide from the S'regs??? Purple haze? exstatic sound sweeping across the galaxy? I'm beaten. It's late. The Web is fraught with innocent looking traps for the unwary.

YAY

Someone else has gone and built a proper psu for the servo.

Makes big difference doesn't it Lee ;-)

Brent

Very much so yes. It just makes the player sound so much more analog-like.

I got bigger improvements from sorting the servo than pretty much anything else. Clocks etc bring detail and dynamics whilst the servo mods bring bags of musicality.

Today I reclocked the dac's Bitclock with very good results. I had to build a divide-by-two logic circuit on veroboard. This took the clock feed from the /4 output on my C2 clock.

The sound is noticeably smoother with more detail and a sweeter, more relaxed presentation. More like my tda1541 dac:)(but better).

I can really hear through all the layers of sound, but in a really relaxed and unforced and sweet sounding manner.

I too have re-clocked the SCK (bitclock) today about 100 mins ago.

I can confirm there is an improvement. Dynamics have improve a bit where the start stop of instruments have improved.

Treble has got more 'air' than before without losing the realism. The treble also sounds more relaxed yet more detailed, like you would hear when listening to a live performance.

The divide by 2 pcb uses AHCT logic, Oscon SEPC decoupling and SPower 5v Reg. The divide cct is connected directly to RD12 (SCK). The clock supply comes from the divide by 4 from the Dac C2 clock. In total the division is divide by 8 = 2.116 Mhz.

Power for the Spower is taken from the Dac clock psu.

I have added a schematic to the website under BIT RECLOCKING - Reclocking Bitclock

Lee was the first to do the fitment of the bitclock btw
