Is there something I could bring to contribute to the BBQ? Sounds like you might have the protein covered, anything else not spoken for that I could contribute?

your favorite Bourbon or infused Vodka from the Duty Free store would be fine, but don't worry about the craft beer - that's usually covered

Ooh! Now were talking
This could get interesting, hope I can remember what my impressions were the next day.
Cheers!

er...If I'd of noticed
when the 'fest was earlier, I'd arranged my own advanced life support (wife, critical care RN), on behalf of all whose age is of a certain number.
Still tryin to get Mr. Campbell to come along with me, perhaps with a kilt in tow.
rx ... I would think that you'll be left completely impressionless
chris : as you know, infused vodka is woman's drink. Real men prefer good Scotch Whiskey, straight from the 'ole' country. Most whiskey made in North America really isn't whiskey (I used to work for a distiller in the blending room), but vodka, aged with fake whiskey flavour, caramel (burnt sugar), and colouring. It is "aged" in a barrel, but that's about it. And "20 " year whiskey can contain as little as 5% of 20 year old whiskey (not the whole bottle). And aging ceases as soon as it is bottled.
Might as well stick with beer, 'cause that's something us Canuck do as well or better than any else on the planet....

6th annual Vancouver Island diyFEST temp thread
With the event some 10 days away, i thot we'd betetter have a thread here on UG Island to keep attendees up-to-date.
dave
PS: no one has verified what they are bringing so that i can pencil in a loose schedule... some hints but that is all. Chris & Daniel & i will have at least 1 amp (hopefully 2) and quite a few speakers.

I should mention that the door prises are starting to queue up...
Grant Fidelity has donated one of their new tube output DACs, and planet10-hifi will be offering an pair of EL70eN (since these are very rare we may be too lazy to pull them out of the cabs they will be in). Bob will probably have something too. Kevin?

Re: 6th annual Vancouver Island diyFEST temp thread
I will be bringing:
1) CVD'ified Planet10 ST-70.
2) "MOOSEFET" - A BoZ inspired SS preamp.
3) Two pairs of 2-way speakers; one En, one non-En with different XO points.

panomaniac said:Has it been a year? Wow. Sorry I can't be there this time. A bit more of a drive, now. 3200 miles.
Hope you guys have agreat time!
central, is that N or S?
y'all be attending Ed's September shindig?
if so, say mahalo, and give him and Randy a big group hug from his canukian friends
panomaniac said:Yeah Chris, I'll be going down to the Horn Shoppe shindig. Cal Weldon won't be there, but I'm sure there will be plenty of mischief and beer anyway.
I will give them your regards!
mischief, yes
hope you're not allergic to gunpowder
There's still an outside chance of me getting there. Mind you the stars have to align in a way not seen since Desi and Lucy were top of the charts.
I'm sure if there's gun powder involved, I won't be missed. That sounds like a lot more fun than torches and granite.
But wait, Scott's bringing a keg no? Man I have to make it. Kevin Haskins can't be trusted to empty the thing, he drinks like an American.

Ed guarantees fun to be had by all, and reported on by survivors

well, as long as he can stay seated, he's probably fine, but if he has to navigate around piles of audio gear, or the stair case or driveway in the dark, that could be a different story
"guys, anyone else feel that earthquake?"
actually, that's probably true for all but the seasoned professionals, which is why your example would be sorely missed
in any case, a few in your honor, sir - in fact, it'll be time to start serious training this weekend
We Canucks require a passport to enter the USA, I didn't realize we required one to enter Canadavaughn said:Damn, I really need to get my passport
I'm very close in Bellingham WA and would love to see what everyone has cobbled together.
Can you say "Big Brother"?
Don
You don't.
Entry requirements for non-Canadians:
When you enter Canada, a CBSA officer may ask to see your passport and a valid visa, if one is necessary. If you are a citizen of the United States, you do not need a passport to enter Canada. However, you should carry proof of your citizenship, such as a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship or naturalization, as well as photo identification. If you are a permanent resident of the U.S, you should bring your Permanent Resident Card (i.e., green card) with you.

Let the fun begin
Hello folks:
I am sitting here right now enjoying one of the beers I was planning on bringing down island for the dooooooo.
Keg no but a nice cross section of fine hand crafted beers for folks to share. I have a nice Serra Nevada pale ale clone that I am particularly fond of. I hope to have a few of those for our American friends to taste. It all depends on how hot it gets up here this week. I get real thirsty in the heat!
I sure hope my shirtless friend Cal can make it. The party never gets going until Cal gets there!
I can bring down my F4 if there is an interest.

Yes. We haven't heard it since it was fixed, and it wasn't bed before.
