This class A single end tube amplifier we created makes use of classic pentode tube, EF95/5654/WE403B/6J1 in triode connection to drive EL84/6AQ5 in pentode connection with 5Y3 full wave rectifier. The output power is 4W and can easily drive full range speakers like Mark Audio. The parts and components are seriously selected and the amplifier is manufactured by Twin Audio. This compact size with elegant style is very suitable for living home.

Tony,
You are getting 4W / channel out of a triode strapped EL84?
dave
Hi dave,
Yes. The plate voltage of EL84 is 250V, 48mA plate current and with load resistance 5K ohms. The power output is 4W for each channel under class A single end amplifier circuit.

Tony,
4W in triode?
I have probably a 100+ EL84, 6BQ5, 6P14P, EL84M....
I have a 3.8 W EL84 pentode (290V plate, not so much current), and a stunning 3.2 W Class A triode PP.

dave,
It is 4W in pentode.
EL84 is a good audio tube and can keep more.
The plate voltage of EL84 is not so high, 250V is good enough.
Tony.
Hey Tony,
You will not even get 2W/ch from your amp so you might have modified truth a little.
Hi Lars,
The power output of the power tubes depend on plate voltage and load resistance.
Thanks.
Tony.
It is 4W in pentode.
That makes sense. The way that it was worded in an earlier post it seemed you were running them triode, but you must have meant the EF95. My diy amps use triode strapped EF86

Hi dave,
You are right. EL84 in pentode and EF95 in triode. If EL84 is in triode connection, the power output is 2W only.
Thanks,
Tony.
