Guitar amps are all about carefully crafted distortion, audio amps are all about accurate reproduction, so advice from a guitar amp perspective is unreliable for an audio amp.
The actual answer is to measure the curves or distortion for the various alternative valves and pick the best behaved oncs - not very practical for most of us, but someone may have done this. Note that noise performance may be more important for an audio amp than a guitar amp.
Or in short anecdotal evidence from a different application isn't worth as much as measurements from the actuall area of application.
