6BG6G anode cap loose

Hello-- first post on diyaudio. I moved one of the anode cap wires on one of my amps and noticed the heater glow was gone afterwards. Removed the tube and the anode cap came off.

Should I just throw away the tube and buy a replacement? It looks like the cap is soldered onto the anode wire. Did they put some type of glue under the cap to hold it onto the top of the tube?

you can resolder the cap in if the wire is still intact..

The 'glue' is similar to fire cement.
Yes the top cap is cemented to the glass before soldering the through wire from the anode.
You can use any water based temperature resistant glue or even Cyanoacrylate, in small quantity.

Anode cap has nothing to do with heater glow.

There may be another problem.

I have heard bad stories about super glue being used on glass.
Epoxy is fine though.
If the heater has gone out do make sure air has not got in.

I glued the anode cap with epoxy, soldered the anode cap and the tube still isn't working.

The tube is going into the scrap pile and I'll buy another one. They're still relatively inexpensive, good sounding tube in my amp.
