More than 50% of the small number that I owned failed. Worse still, they failed short-circuit, enough to blow-out the protection fuses, without overvoltage. I am not surprised that Elna stopped making them!

I would not recommend them for any circuit, since all stock is now stale (more likely to fail early), and definitely not in cathode bias positions.

I like Nichicon KZ series parts in cathode bias bypass positions.

Nichicon offers other series 'lytics that are supposedly audio grade. Some of these parts carry an attractive 105^o C. rating.

Hi Eli,

I've used the KX, in high voltage, for supplies, and other Audio-specified types. Nichicons in general, even the humble VR, are always a top choice!

i use a 3 way floor stander with a 90 db sensitivity...

i use Rubycon and Nichicons in many of my builds.....
surprisingly, the Elna Cerafine 470ufd/450 volt main filter caps still lives....
