Sometimes scratching the vintage itch is very satisfying.
I've had this Hitachi HMA-6500 for years, maybe 10(!) and haven't used it much at all.
Decided to plug it in for a minimalist basement setup. I had been using a TA2020 amp for a while, which certainly gets the job done, but... Meters. Lateral mosfet.
Paired with a nice vintage preamp (Toshiba C-15) and my cherished EconoWaves, this is basement fun for laundry duty and playing with my franken-PC (Solus Linux machine built from old parts). The source is a Raspberry Pi running PiCorePlayer and the venerable Behringer UCA202 DAC. Sounds lovely.
Happy New Year!
