I have two older Autotek Mean Machine 12" dual 4 ohm voice coil subs that I will be purposing to home theater duty at some point.
specs are as follows:
model MX1244
Re (ohms) 6.4
Le 3.76
Qm 4.11
Qe 0.42
QTS 0.38
Xmax linear +/- (mm) 14.5
Xmax max. +/- (mm) 25
BL 23.1
Fs (Hz) 31.1
Mms (g) 178
Cms mm/N 0.15
Rms Kg/s 8.5
Vas (L) 51.3
Sd (cm ) 490
SPL (dB) 87.5
With two in a 6 cubic foot box tuned to 20 hz in an extended bass shelf it looks decent, but I'm wondering if there are any other better thoughts or suggestions for a good build for these... Would these be suitable for a tapped horn or something? Basically I'll fall back to that EBS design but would like to pursue something better if possible.
Would appreciate any input, thanks
