Hi Guys,,
i have a problem with the earth ground in my power amplifier, yesterday I finished mounting my power amplifier and I connect the earth ground on my case without plugging the center tap of my xfo and i have a buzz in my speaker. when i disconnect the earth gnd i don't have a buzz. Why and how can i solve my the problem? thank you! Maxpou😕

Can you show a wiring diagram?Hi Guys,,

Yeah, it's a bit unclear what you've done so a circuit diagram would help.Hi Guys,,

Not sure about "without plugging the center tap".
The CT is used for 0V/electrical GND. The CT will be connected to
the amps GND plane. All GND connections need to be clean etc...
The cable protective earth connects to the chassis.

Thank you for reply guys,
Ok sorry for explanation it's not easy for me in english. I have only 1 gnd and 1 point on my case it's a earth gnd. My CT is connected to my 0Vdc and only for audio gnd. Maxpou
Sorry i can not post à wiring diagram for the moment
It sounds like you have a ground loop. Are the input connectors (phono sockets?) insulated from the chassis (case)? Does the buzz disappear when nothing is connected to the inputs?
It does seem like a ground loop... Without any diagram or clear explanation of what you've done it's not going to be easy to advise how to best fix it though. The simplest way to avoid a ground loop is to only take your audio ground to actual ground at one point, or not at all (it is a subject of some debate) if your power 0v is floating (as it usually is) then it is also at audio ground.

Yes my input connector and speaker binding post are insulated. The buzz disappear when i disconnect the earth gnd to my chassis and i have nothing connect to my input connector. Thank you! Maxpou
What part of the amplifier is connected to the chassis?
only the electrical earth gnd.
Then it shouldn't be causing a hum. There's another path somewhere.only the electrical earth gnd.
What make/model amp or is it a diy'er...
Remove protective earth connection to chassis then measure resistance from transformer
CT to chassis then CT to black speaker post.

i did it and it's open circuit from xfo ct to chassis and short circuit from CT to speaker post.
You have the potentiometer installed per the diagram of 10k from input to ground? And after the input filter of 47k to ground?ok guys I did a test and the buzz disappeared when I shorted the input to the ground. My amp is a mosquito of Jean-Marc Plantefève and i tried to put a resistor of 1K in serie directly of gate of each fet but nothing changed.
2A & DIY

Which ground?ok guys I did a test and the buzz disappeared when I shorted the input to the ground.
Is there no connection between audio ground and the chassis?
no, audio gnd is floting.
That is probably the problem, it should be connected to the chassis at one point, usually the best place is at, or near the midpoint between the PSU reservoir capacitors.
