Well scott, those old ROE caps are known to drift, and the PSU caps look like they could do with changing.
Just to refresh and not have any future issues so it last another 20 years! Unless you think otherwise? It is almost 35 plus years old at a guess

Have you any test equipment? If there is nothing wrong I would leave well alone.
I recieved exactly the same advice about the ROE in the Krell KSA100 MK2 i bought. I removed them, tested them and they were fine!
Swapped them for Audio Note Kaisei and the improvement in SQ was undeniable.
Swap them for something good and relax.
Then why ask for advice?
Sometimes people like to hear what other people think, then do what they want to.
Nothing wrong with that at all.
Whats this forum for scott? For getting help right? First time i have owned a krell and not much information out there with regards to what goes wrong or sonic improvements people have done. Looking for fellow krell owners with experience in doing what i want to try and achieve, the pitfalls and what to generally what to look out for. Do not want to go in blindly just yet.
For example bigman just commented on what he done, which makes me feel better about doing it.

Exactly!

The first things that were recommended to me were:
1) Change the Roe caps
2) Change the Signal wiring for a good quality modern wire. UP-OCC Neotech or similar.
3) Change the massive output caps
4) Give it a clean inside and enjoy.

Yes Scott I have an oscilloscope which can also test caps, resistors and transistors, signal generator, DMM etc
Thanks bigman, thoughts on doing the thermal paste on the trannies again? Thinking if I'm going to pull it all apart might aswell do all I can

I'd agree. If you're taking it all apart, might as well give it a thorough going over. When you're done I'll bring mine for you to do

That's good, you could test the preamp as a unit to check it's functioning properly. If it is, I would leave it alone. I shall leave you in peace now as I get the impression you aren't interested in my advice.Yes Scott I have an oscilloscope which can also test caps, resistors and transistors, signal generator, DMM etc
Not at all scott, certainly the amplifer I will attempt, and maybe as you said, test the preamplifier if it works as it should I'll leave it. The psu to be on the safe side I'll replace the power caps.
It will do no harm to replace the caps. The requirement for PSU quality depends on the PSRR of the circuit, this is way I suggest testing it as a whole
what went with Krell
have you got it working?
How does such a amp sound in comparison to new redesigned class a amps?
