Hi all, I have a KSA 50 clone ( Jan Dupont PCB's ) that is running with plus and minus 25 volt rails to keep heat dissapation low. I want to retain that voltage for the output stage but use a seperate higher voltage supply for the PCB, more like the original.
Should I supply the boards before the driver transistors or after. I have attached the circuit and indicated those two positions.Am I assuming correctly or incorrectly these positions?
Which is best ?
How much current would be required in either case ( 8 ohm loudspeakers ) What are the pitfalls with using a seperate supply from the output stage.
I have not used the current limiting circuit that is shown on the diagram.

Include the driver transistors.
You could increase the supply by 2 to 5 Volts.
You'd increase the output by a tiny bit.
Not sure if it's worth the bother though.
There are those that champion the idea of a seperate regulated supply for the input/driver stages so may be of some benefit, but I'm not sure if the improvement is that significant.
Give it a go and let us know.
