In signal path, better use Bp cap? Is nichicon muse ES good?
I use opa2107 now.
My a7 preamp section cap is
220uf 16v
220uf 25v
22uf 25v
2.2uf 50v

Hi
As the power section filter cap. Should I use rubycon zlh, nichicon vz , Panasonic FC or Philips 136 instead of cerafine?? Cerafine for signal Path or power filter ?
I use Black Gate or Cerrafine or Nichicon.
I will check the preamp board. Anyways, blackgate not good in signal path, right? How about cerafine?
Black Gate N or NX can be used in signal path. Otherwise they are not suitable. Cheap MKP is better.

Which nichicon you use? Vz, he , FW or fg? In fact, I like nichicon in guitar pedal, sound very clear
Is nichicon muse BP suitable for signal path ? I bought lot of blackgate pk before. But very few n series only. And no blackgate for sell anymore now
I forgot which Nichicon but I think any will do for PS. Some of my commercial amps use Nichicon Muse tho. If it is BP or NP then it is good for signal path. Soundwise electrolytics (NP/BP) sound more relax and easier on ears than many MKP, but MKP more transparent, but bigger in size.
Do you mind to let me know some good brand mkp cap?
I use wima before. But it is bad in guitar effector. Good treble, but less mid.
Now, I like to use Panasonic ecq cap in guitar effector. Is it mkp?

Good metallized signal cap is very expensive! (I believe you have no idea yet how expensive these snake oils can be). Its only feasible for cost-no-object project where big budged is acceptable even for a very small improvement. For this kind of project, NP or BP electrolytics are acceptable considering the space. Any MKP, as long as not the cheapest one will do. There are thread about these expensive caps if you want to know, but I wont go there.
In fact, I think I use blackgate, elna always cost me too much.
And I change the yellow cap to bc film cap. I test bc film cap in guitar pedal. It have a fat mid , sound better than wima.
Do you mind to give me idea ? Should I roll back to original cap and opamp first??

No. The opamp should be a good upgrade. The small metallized cap is also an improvement over the MKM. So it could be one mistake or the cap in signal path. Use the original cap for those in signal path (the electrolytics, may be the 2.2uF) and compare with the original. If worse, you may have made a mistake, like changing capacitor value, etc etc.
Thank you.
I make sure all the cap value are correct. Because I take a photo before I change the cap.
I think the problem should be blackgate and cerafine. Because it is not sound good in guitar pedal. I guess it is not good for my amp too. And some people say very difficult to get a good sound from bg and elna.

Don't use electrolytic caps "Special made for Audio" - an important rule.Thank you.

Exception is MUNDORF (custom made by FTcap, Germany)

The NJM2068 seems better than the OPA2107 , and both are vastly
inferior to a decades old NE5532.

another posibility...
a friend suggested that the board that you have may very well have been designed and voiced around the affordable part chosen in the first place
so changing the part may well be throwing off the voicing which the designer did. Try putting the old part back in to see if the sound quality is restored and if so you will have found your answer. Best regards Moray James

i run the blackgate cap about 1000 hrs in my guitar pedal. i just find out the sound is more worse.
Hi
I listen my friend no mod A7 and my modded a7. My a7 is bad than original much.
1. Bass not clear. I can't hear bass guitar bass drum very clear
2. Treble weak than my friend a7
3. Mid also lower than original,
And I do the test yesterday
Change the power amp section elna to Panasonic FK . Sound hugh improve. And I try bc and rubycon also. Bc have good mid. But rubycon sound very clear and good detail. As the original cap sound good too. The mid is very very good, but I think sound layer thin than other cap.
Why blackgate and elna sound very bad in my amp? Is it really good cap?
I think maybe the this amp use the d-k cap to design, maybe they find out this cap bass not enough, they will add more cap in the circult, so more bass. But If I change other cap which bass is more, so bass will over totally. Am I correct??

So you're in HK. The last BG and Cerrafine I bought were terrible. Not as good as those I bought previously. I'm 99% sure they were fake. Actually I think it is 100% but I still have many of them so...
I have no idea how anyone could have access to the original discontinued BG products. They were highly wanted. Logically there should be no stock available after so many years.
My Cerrafine are the red ones, yours are black. I don't know the different.
My BG are without "F" (so not the F series) or any other series marking, and I forgot which series...

Strange. Bass and treble are not good at the same time. And now also the mid. Usually there is trade-off! Looks like something is terribly wrong in the crossover.
But If I change other cap which bass is more, so bass will over totally. Am I correct??
No, not that much.
It was mentioned, but ignored:
** Electrolytic caps age. Any electrolytic over about 7 years old will have started to dry out.
** A lot of the expensive caps are fake.
** Measure the values for every cap.
** Get a scope and a spectrum analyzer to measure the results. The scale of what is wrong should be easy to find.
** Change one thing at a time.
Everything else is just stabling in the dark and usually winds up with throwing everything away and buying a new amp.

i think all my elna and blackgate cap is real. because i order all here
Parts ConneXion - The authority on hi-fi DIY parts and components
this online store should be sell real cap only, right?
and i bought the elna and blackgate 2.5 year before.
also, i try the elna to my guitar effect pedal power today. sound very very good. i really don't know why my elna sound not good in my A7 amp? what problem?
i will mod the amp step by step in the future . i am newbie, so i think change all the cap to expensive cap, it should sound good.
so how should i do now? in fact, if i go for panasonic FC or BC cap, this way should be correct? i am never disappointed with this cap in guitar effect. but i don't sure for this amp.
last, how do you tune the sound? will you buy all brand cap and try one by one?
sometime, lower ESR cap will not sound better, i compare panasonic FM and FC. FM is lower ESR than FC 30%. but i like FC more. why FM spec is better than FC, but sound not good?
