Which value resistor to use with piezo tweeter

Loads of people say different things.

The 3khz or 4 khz piezo horn needs a 2 watt or 3 watt 47 0hm resistor in series with it.
But i've got a piezo with a 22 ohm 2 watt resistor attached to it,and it is a 3.5 khz horn.
It really get on my nerves,why every person i've spoken to say something different.
Also people have said use an 8 ohm ceramic wirewound 10w or 20w instead of a 22 ohm 2w metal film resistor.
If the resistor is only there on a piezo,to stop the high resonating frequencies of modern amps damaging the piezo.Why does it need a 20w for example,when a 2w is sufficent.
And other people tell me i don't need a resistor for piezo tweeters at all,because it doesn't need a crossover.
I'd like to know the truth,and the person who helps me out on this query must be experienced in pro audio,not just an idiot saying a random answer; because thats what has happened to me before.The person has to explain why it needs that certain value resistor,not just presume it from what other people told him.
Also does the CTS powerline series need another resistor like the normal unprotected piezos,because inside the CTS powerline housing is a tungsten bulb and a PTC resistor.
Also piezo twweters,don't need a crossover to stop bass frequencies,as the nature of the piezo is it rejects low-frequency signals;but would a crossover help the piezo handle high wattages without burn out.

Most good piezos[CTS or Motorola] are either 50w rms or 75w rms,if this was matched with a 300w rms bass driver,and driven with a 300w rms amp,wouldn't the piezo be in danger of blowing?
I know you can buy the Powerline piezo series with have an internal protection unit,handling wattages up to 200w rms,400w music.
But i've seen normal square [non protected] Motorola/CTS piezos in an array box of about 10 piezos,used with very high power amps,and large bass bins,used in out door events,and they seem ok,and don't blow up,how come this is?
Last but not Least, the only good thing about piezos compaired to compression drivers are: piezos are harder to blow up than compression drivers,and piezos don't need a crossover to stop low frequency signals.But compression drivers are much higher average SPL at 1w 1m,sound much pure and much more treble detail,they cost more,and are heavier,and need at least a high pass filter,better if used with a proper crossover
But if used with a good 18db 3rd order crossover,the compression drivers are probably safe from low frequency signals.
