Hi. I'm a newbie to computing, and my interest is understanding the recording of voice using a microprocessor or microcomputer, more especially microcomputer.

WAV files are my particular interest. As an example of the kind of things I'm trying to understand: In the fulness of time, I'm hoping to grasp how a playback program knows where the start of the audio data is in a WAV file and where it ends. Obviously there will be a start address and an end address in memory to the PCM/ audio data.

I really could do to buy a book that goes into these things. I wonder if anyone could recommend some? Thanks. Rich

P.S. Maybe there will be a chip manufacturer's forum that could be useful. I'll have to look at that angle.
