I have draw a new pcb for the bride of zen, the earthing is much better and the 2 channels are symmetric.

Dear Mr. Maarten,
Thank you for uploading the upgraded pcb drawing.
I have a question for you but also for anyone reading this.
I really don't understand this necessity of symmetry for the two channels.
On principle I prefer an identical pattern for the two channel.
But often I have seen the two channel mirrored.
Why I don't know.
Kind regards,
beppe61
I think it's only a layout problem. I found it's much easier to route it, if the components for both channels are mirrored..
for my PCB, i positioned the components to achieve a 'ground track' surrounding the other tracks in the PCB, and i've mirrored both channels each other. routing the PCB was a job of minutes...

tell me your opinion!

Dear DarkStar,
Thank you very much indeed for your kind and extremely valuable reply.
Regarding your project I would like to congratulate you: very nice job indeed !
As I am particularly interested in line preamps, I would be very interested in knowing how your Bride of ZEN sounds.
In general I am looking for a minimalist line preamp (if you want to search for author beppe61 you will find the schematic of a 2 BJT line preamp that I found) to substitute a Bryston .4b I am using now.
Any your further information on line preamps would be very much valuable to me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
beppe61
hallo, thanks for the reply! regarding other minimalist preamp project... the only one i've seen are these:
-a TUBE single ended preamp (http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/ta/simpre0.html)
-the Hiraga MC (http://www.bonavolta.ch/hobby/en/audio/prepre.htm)
-another TUBE preamp and a passive one (http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~valveamp/LinePreProject.htm)

Dear Darkstar,
Thank you very much indeed for your valuable suggestions.
Just another question: did you build your modified BOZ?
What is your opinion on its sound ?
It is a good alternative to commercial line preamps?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
beppe61
