Hardly controversial..
I replaced my long loved..bespoke George Wright triode type Pre with a simple stoopid 10 k Attenuator in a wee box with RCA's on it...
Cuz the tubed pre made my F6 sound like building it was a Komplete waste of time.
Passive Attenuator proved an Astounding improvement over the pre. .. F6 was instantly breathtakingly good.
Goofy Pre immediately went to storage, likely never to see the light of day again.
F6 needs decent input... as well as... decent speakers to soar.
Can't soar with Eagles when in a flock of Turkeys.

If there was one amp that everyone agreed to be the best, then there wouldn't be so many amps in the market
Since this is DIY, the best (if it is feasible from living space and spare coins point of view) is to find out the answer yourself in your living room and other beloved audio gears in the chain. You will never know until you try it

The M2 and F6 are quite different. Im still favoring the F6 but must say that the M2 is growing on me.I love my f6. I am working on an M2 build, but I’m not convinced it will supercede my F6... at least having a hard time thinking what could be improved.
