I have this question regarding the sonic nature of the old (but still magic) Aleph design, depending on using balanced or unbalanced inputs.
The balanced input has advantages like noise rejection and higher output (more dB and more capable to address difficult loads); but doesn't this happen at the cost of a loss of refinement and purity in the sound?
Note: When I say unbalanced I mean pure unbalanced input without shorting pins 1 and 3 (only 20dB gain).
