Well pubbers, time for me to fess up. I have not been around much and there's a reason. A month ago today my Father passed away. We were close. We did a lot of things together right up till the end and although we were both ready for it, you find out you really never are. He was 87.

He went to the hospital with a slight breathing problem. Turned out to be Pneumonia. Pneumonia won. Not even a week later he was headed for the great tennis court in the sky. We really miss him.

So long Captain. May the wind fill your sails.

I am also co-executor and this being the first time, there is much to learn. I advise anyone who might be in that position in their lives do do a lot of research beforehand, it will really pay off.

Anyway, I'd like to welcome myself back to the pub and quaff a few cold ones with y'all. I think I'm ready for that. :drink:

Cal,

my condolences for your father's departure, I raise my glass twice for any sailor.
May we all reach that grand age below the summer solstice latitude.

I had to help a hand to shoot my old man out of this galaxy by means of chemical weapon of azz destruction.
But still not a week goes by without me saying I miss him, used to do it aloud on solitary moments in the first couple of years.

Did I scare off the pub dodos? I was hoping to have a beer or two with yoos all.

Thanks for the kind thoughts you have sent along but I was hoping it's time to grab a mug and do a little relaxing before next weekend when we have the first of two 'Remembering Rick' get togethers.

Jacco, your thoughts about sailors ring true. Anyone associated with the water has my two votes.

I/we are teaching my son something, for him to do a number of hours a week at home, for which he will be paid twelve times the minimum youth wage. It generates $200-$300 an hour, depends on his proficiency.
Income tax top rate is 52% in NL, with an income that's part corporate, every deductible item is a blessing.
A weekly allowance of €48 is €100 gross, home slavery saves 35 percent income tax.
To make it even more interesting, an 18 year old kid with such an income, can easily afford to pay for room and board. :clown:
Which isn't gross income, but net cost, another 10 percent saved.

Of course, we can only put him on the payroll for a small percentage of the revenue. So we've got another slave youth lined up.
Without the two gimps, we'd each have to put in 10 hours a week, 4 to 5 is easier.
(a Tesla on the payroll might also be interesting, not sure if I wouldn't rather shave my head and run bucknaked into the IRS building, with a fistful of dollars sticking out my bum hole)

And then there's the weekend cooking, which isn't so pretty with a fckd up scent (some virus damaged my smell, no telling how long it'll take to fix itself)
