Speaker connectors

Hi all

I am new to DIY speakers and just have a question. Some drivers have spade lugs and others have a nice looking connector. Is this made like this from the manufacturer or can it be done after market?

I believe You can by locking connectors, since many amplifiers also use them.
On the speaker gasket is usually a hole where You can put a screw and a nut to fasten them. You just have then to solder the coil wires.

Note: do NOT drill speaker steel frames, any and all metal filings will jump to the voice coil gap, destroying the speaker.

And be careful on aluminum cast frames.

Good old fashioned soldered connections are the best for permanent installations.

Those nice looking quick release connectors are either for show or to facilitate frequent swapping over of drivers.

OK, yes (Galu and JMFahey) that makes a lot more sense. When I build it will 100% be permanent. I hope not to have to swap out the drivers.
