The demise of P+G slide faders is a serious issue for studio-based engineers (I believe they still supply some models, but they are made in Asia and not as nice as the industry-standard 3000-series seen in large format consoles).
However, the demise of their pots is not such a sad event. Both RF11 and RF15 have image creep at low levels (fact - test yours if you have some). They also become noisy and need lubricating if used anywhere warm. I don't think they were ever as good as the TKD CP2500, and not really as good as high-end ALPS such as RK40 and 50. In terms of electrical performance, P+G pots were barely better than ALPS RK27, but at many times the price did not represent great value. P+G was a great company and it's sad that most of the potentiometer division's lines have been culled, but I wouldn't lose too much sleep over the pots.

I don't believe pots have a sound.
LOL, if you can't hear the difference between a step ladder attentuator with metal films and a TKD pot... I really don't know what to say... absurd?

True and ALPS RK27 does not sound very good in my ears, TKD is better by a large margin.
What about the black Alps ACW-136-A (60K, black) ? - go toTrue and ALPS RK27 does not sound very good in my ears, TKD is better by a large margin.

Strangely, I went from Khozmo pot to TKD ko-on. Didn't notice any difference, apart from the lack of steps.
