long years ago we build a 2-way system (50l BR - emminence beta 12" & Visaton HTH 8.7) - exspected a solid project - but we all have been suprised ... ;o)
Xover was about 3,5kHz - so enough headroom to carry empressive load & provide high volumes. If your interested let me know - i'd provide xover (an additional not realized Zobel did smoothen response but would put about 50USD/EURO each on top).
Due to our not unexperienced ears:
If you step back and enjoy it from a wider distance than we do at home hifi (approx 4m) you even could use it as a home system ... direct but not offensive, natural tone

When it comes to PA systems, it's good to avoid putting drivers in series. With parallel wiring, if a driver burns out and goes open-circuit, the rest of the drivers will carry on working. With two drivers in series, one going open-circuit would result in no signal getting to the other one. With groups of series and parallel, one driver going open or short-circuit can mean that some drivers stop working, or some drivers get extra current (leading to further burn-outs).
Chris

yes, that makes sense. especially the burn out part
