Anyone found measurments of the neo8's distortion out there on the web? I'm tired of seeing the freq. response and the waterfall plot.
Thanks, Greg
Thanks, Greg
OK, how about some distortion figures for any of the Aurum Cantus ribbons or the Founteks...I've heard that these don't measure too well with respect to distortion.
Mark K., any info?

Neo 8 distortion data
The pro-audio white paper might be useful for you.

The frame and membrane material and structures are very similar, magnets should be identical. So THD values should be close - but most likely better.
At lower output the THD figures are far better, with something like 0.1% THD at 80-85 db SPL or so. (No I don't have the URLs anymore)
If you build a line source, you can keep individual driver output below 90 db while playing a rather loud near 100 db SPL with say 8 drivers per side - you would have a marvelously low THD.
Hope this helps

A distortion chart at (I think) 90dB is posted here:

If this is accurate, it's pretty good, although it doesn't match the best cone drivers below 1k. Below 0.3 % from 900Hz up, and below 0.1% 2k-8k. Rises below 900, presumably as excursion comes into play.

I've not tested one.
The neo 3 I tested wasn't a stellar performer. I've got a page up somewhere on it. The tests weren't very comprehensive, so there's no actual link to it. I suspect the 8 would be better, but how much, in comparison to the other tweeters, I don't know.
