2-way bookshelf Morel ET338 Peerless NE180

Hi everybody
This is my first post in this section of forum.
I’ projecting a new couple of 2-way vented bookshelf speakers of some less than 1 cubic feet, using drivers already in my possession:
- a pair of matched paired Morel ET338-104-8
- a pair of Peerless NE180W-08
After the first measurements, it seems that Morel and Peerless should easily cope together (Peerless is very very linear, impedance values in any possible corner frequence are similar, there is just a gap of some 3-4 db of sensitivity to compensate).
IMHO, at first glance I would opt for a basic crossover (1st order for woofer, 2nd L/R for tweeter) with no Zobel or R-L-C networks.
Anyone have dealt with them in the past?
Any good tip?
Every suggestion is welcome
Thank you

Both good drivers, IMO. But not convinced a simple coil will get the NE180W-08 playing nicely...

That breakup above 3kHz looks horrible! 😱

Flat impedance must help you do a simple filter, but I think it's second order on the bass. Tweeter filter probably 3rd order since it's a low cross. Around 2kHz cross.

I'd email Mike Chua for his Rosefinch circuit, and then decide what you want to do with the bass. The tweeter is then adjust to fit. Thing is, once you have the bass sorted, the other slope follows.

Mike has been very very kind, and I got his design.
Pretty much the same as The Texas Flood one, with the only diffence of the insertion of a parallel R-L-C circuit in series with the coil (Rosefinch cut-off is around 500hz higher than TTF).
So... I would say lowpass is done (of course, any other suggestion is welcome).
For the highpass, I had seen Morel Moretrix http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/pdf/Morel 2way MoreTrix.pdf
with the corner frequence very very similar to TTF.
So, if I would opt for a very low frequence cut around 1600, a mix of the Moretrix highpass and the Texas Flood lowpass could be a comfortable starting point. Going upper around 2000/2100hrz, Mike Chua's design is another strong support; tuning a proper highpass shouldn't difficult, a 2nd or 3th order as well

If you plan on playing it loud, I'd opt for a 2.5k-ish LR2 on both LP and HP. The morel tweeter can cope with a lower xover but 3rd order HD is an issue when pushed hard. If you dont need too much SPL, you can push the xover down to 2k with a steeper HP slope. Flattening the tweeter resonance helps alot here, but it may be cost prohibitive. You will need an LCR notch at 4.8k on the NE180, even with a 2nd order LP. A 6dB single inductor LP won't work here. The breakup is too excessive for this, even with the 4.8k notch.

I have the morel cat378 tweeter together with the NE180 crossed at around 2.2k LR2. Both drivers are some of my favorites under the $100 price point. The NE180 can keep up with most sub $200 midbass drivers and makes an impressive midrange driver as well, able to play blisteringly loud without straining. Its in my top 10 of best all time midbass drivers.
