Default ram mini bookshelf monitor

hi- ive looking out for a pair of these- impedance is quoted 4-8 ohms- does anyone out there know the actual impedance- dc resistance will do- many thanks

Do you mean the RAM Mini-Bookshelf which employs an Audax 6.5 inch unit and an Audax fabric dome hf unit? (See attached image.)

Someone out there may have a pair and be willing to measure the DC resistance of the bass/midrange driver.

My guess is that the nominal impedance is likely to be in the order of 6ohm.

thanks galu- yes i do mean that one- i have dynaco sca-35 - they run very hot on 8 ohms and dont have a 6 ohm tap- that would make me very nervous

I see, a valve amp that has speaker taps for 8 ohms and 16ohms. Dynaco SCA-35 [English]

There should not be a problem running a well designed valve amp with a nominal 6 ohm speaker load on an 8 ohm tap.

Remember that the impedance of a loudspeaker varies widely with frequency and often exceeds its nominal value.

I read from the review of your valve amp Dynaco SCA-35 [English] that listening tests were conducted with Paradigm 11se Mark II speakers which have a nominal impedance of 6 ohms and a minimum impedance of 4 ohms.

This information should be of reassurance to you.
