EV Sentry III DIY

Hello - this is my DIY build using vintage EV drivers. Like a Sentry III but louder.🙂

Bass boxes are the EV TL606 x 2 for the left channel and the TL606D for the right channel. For the singles I used a bottom slot port tuned to 40Hz, stacked sideways. For the double I used a center slot port tuned to 40Hz with the back opened to both drivers. 3.5 cu ft for singles, 7.0 cu ft for the double.

The bass drivers are EV 15B Pro-Line. The original used one OEM EV DL15W per box. The top hats are EV SM120A horns with EV 1824M drivers. The tweeters are EV ST350A.

The crossovers are passive with pix attached.

The reasoning for the different bass boxes was to see if 2 boxes with a single woofer equals 1 box with 2 woofers. The answer is yes. Each channel produces over 45 acoustic watts. This is my nearfield 2.1 system. I have a DIY cinema F20 with an 18 inch driver for a sub.

DIY is the best...chris

Update to my near-field rig.

The mid bass boxes with 2x15 EV15B are 107 db/w so roll off around 50cps with -3db around 40cps. I have a large horn sub, but it is not in your face bass.

So I built a 13 cu/ft box for low bass to add to the mix, using an 18 in EV DL18MT woofer in a double slot port reflex box tuned to 30 cps.
