Basically, my story is that I heard the Aurum Cantus Melody M-103 floorstanders many years ago and I was just taken by them (the very first ribbons I heard), but I haven't really tried to chase that sound until now. I'm trying to match or better that using newer and better components. The efficiency of that model is very important to me as well:
Sensitivity：89dB
Impedance：8 ohms (minimum 6.4 ohms), though up to 4ohms nominal is fine
The Melody uses the Aurum Cantus G3i ribbon tweeter and the AC180/50C2C 7" midwoofer in a 2-way configuration, crossedover at 2200hz. I'm actually willing to use these same exact components if someone has really good crossover and cabinet designs to go with them. Either bookshelves or small floorstanders are fine.
My budget is around $500 in parts, minus the cabinets. I can go up to $700 maybe if there will be a substantial increase in detail resolution.
