Solid mid-bass and vocals performer, TangBand or Scanspeak?

Does anyone here ever had the chance to play around with the Tang Band W6-1721 (https://solen.ca/wp-content/uploads/w61721.pdf) and Scanspeak Discovery 18/4434G00 (https://solen.ca/wp-content/uploads/18w4434g00.pdf) ?

I'm searching for a woofer for car door use.. these 2 seem to be the most reasonable value/performer.. but im not sure what to get or how to read the specs.. im looking for good, natural vocals and very good mid-bass punch.

*I have tried the full range W6-2144 and the vocals were quite surprising and
very open, pleasing sound overall! at high volume though it kind of breaks off though so im looking for something that can take some power (~100-150wrms)

So im wondering if the Tang Band W6-1721 at 100wrms, 88db sensitivity and a wide band (rated 40-5000hz) would have those nice vocals with better mid-bass and power handling

But then i saw this Scanspeak Discovery which seemed quite interesting... 170wrms, 91db sensitivity and graph looks very good but the frenquecy band seem to be more narrow (~60-2000hz)

p.s. i do have a tweeter

any thoughts would be appreciated...

Their responses are actually somewhat similar from 1-5KHz, note that the Scanspeak datasheet is 5dB per division and the Tangband is 10dB per division which makes the response look smoother. The Tang band is cleaner in the midrange and treble, Scanspeak is cleaner in the bass. I wouldn't run either above 1kHz in a car door unless you can build a mount that angles them towards the listener. Even at a 45degree angle 2kHz is pushing it because the response will be falling off a cliff at that angle. It's going to be very challenging to get the Tang band mounted on a suitable angle in a car door for a 2-way given how large the magnet is.

I run the 4ohm version of the Dayton RS180 in my car and have been very happy with them running from 60Hz to 350Hz. Before I converted my setup to a 3-way front stage I had them run up to 2.6kHz and all the way down without a sub. The bass was the best I have ever heard from a 6.5/7" driver mounted in a door. A notch filter was required to deal with the cone breakup when running them up that high. The magnet is reasonably sized so you can make a pod to mount them on a decent angle without compromising airflow too much.

even the Tang Band wouldnt be good above 1khz?

judging by the T/S parameter, which would mate better with sealed off doors ? I'm thinking its about 1cu.ft in there.

well... i pulled the trigger and got the Scanspeak 18/4434G00, installed them today and they are quite surprising! first impression was clarity and richness in the midrange and they get loud easily without breaking composure ! currently have them crossed at 2.5khz and having no issues at all, very nice driver. i will report in a week or two after breaking them in if anyone interested... so far its the only mid that really wow'ed me!

I'm in the same boat - TB 6 underhung vs Seas ER18 vs SB17BNAC or Rival Acoustics, or the cheaper 18/4434. I have the SB17NRXC-4ohm older version and I'm not happy with it - the two samples come from different batch and sound a bit different, also a bitch to filter due to cone break-up - conquered this one. The SB has good bass, sound OK but I'm after something more transparent, lower distortions. Also the Scan, Seas are easier to filter. There's Prima 2way based on the 18/4434 and Scan HDS tweeter that got some good reviews, maybe due to HDS tweeter which is very detailed, but a bit dry for some. The TB might something interesting, knowing that underhung drivers have very good bass. SB anodized cone is one the best in the SB series, but I don't like the spider on the SB series. Rivals dried paper cone have huge magnet and looks very well engineered, large spider, but have similar cone break-up like the SB NRXC cone.
SQBubble how ScanSpeak project progressing and how do you like the 18/4434 after living with them for a while.
