Moving port from rear to front: 2 way speakers

You can move it to the front. It might interfere a little with the baffle but on the other hand the tweeter is slightly concave which may make this less of an issue.

Having the port on the back has benefits. Ports can produce noise and other unwanted effects. The beneficial sound from a port is at a lower frequency and it can be tweaked by what is behind the speaker. Rear port speakers can respond to how close you place them to the wall, although there are other factors dictating the best place for a speaker with relation to the walls.

If bass is an issue you could also consider closing the box and adding a larger woofer crossed low, or maybe better still, an arrangement of subwoofers to suit your room.
