New to DIY, 1st Project & Need help with Speaker Selection

Need to start by saying that i am definitely not all that knowledgeable when it comes to all the electro/crossover circuitry etc. with speaker systems
Current set-up is simple; Kef IQ1 Bookshelf speakers and a IQ9C Center Channel - And, Im in the process of building a enclosure for my Eminence LAB12 Subwoofer (sealed) to add some punch for movies etc.

I've wanted some better speakers primarily for music; like everything from classic rock to classical - i like to hear the individual instruments so getting it right, well....i need HELP!

I've researched various sites for both design and components; need advice on both my speaker selection and crossover/circuitry....Again, Thanks in Advance for any help offered!

Woofer: Aurum Cantus AC300/75C2C 12" - Sealed Enclosure
Mids: Tang Band W5-704D 5-1/4" Woofer - 2 per speaker - open Baffle in a (MTM) configuration
Tweeter: Dayton Audio PT2C-8 Planar
No clue on Crossover's yet - haven't gotten that far

And, hoping the Eminence LAB12 will handle the really low end of things - this will be paired with a Yung 300W (non-boost model) plate amp from PE
I'm still in the planning process - Thoughts & Suggestions are appreciated

Do you already have these speakers? If not, you would probably be better off going with a current design. The Parts Express website has a lot of designs by very knowledgeable people. An internet search will also provide a lot of designs.
If you already have those designs, maybe someone here can help you with a crossover. Again, the Parts Express forum is almost exclusively about DIY speakers, so I'm sure you could get a lot of help there too.
Just in case you were tempted to go with an off the shelf crossover, I'd recommend not doing so. A crossover needs to be designed for a particular speaker. Each speaker has its own impedance signature and needs filtered/notched in some areas that others don't. Although an off the shelf crossover might sound OK, one designed for the speakers will sound better. It looks as though the speakers you listed are very nice speakers, so you should do them the justice they deserve with a crossover designed for them.

Thanks Mike, i will check over on the PE forum for additional information - aside from speaker selection (ensuring components match), I'll most likely plan to have the crossovers built vs DIY...."man's gotta know his limitations" 🙂 Clint Eastwood. That said, any suggestions on components is definately welcome. And, no i have not purshased the speakers yet but plan to get started soon.

I have used the W5-704D in a budget two way. It does well as a woofer for its price. As a dedicated mid I can only imagine it will do very well. However, I imagine there might be better mids to go with the woofer and tweeter you've chosen. The W5-704D is slightly veiled to me. It's easy on the ears, but the mids are the real "money-maker" in a speaker. IMO. I have a set of speakers designed by Paul Carmody, from the Parts-Express forum that use a W4-1337 Tang Band W4-1337SD 4" Titanium Driver 264-848. It makes an extremely nice mid. I don't think it would need a lot of crossover work either. And if I'm not mistaken the lower sensitivity of the W4-1337 would help with any BSC issues.
