Malcolm, I could live with the hiss, but thanks for the idea.
I forgot to mention that I did elevate the AC heater voltage by taking the center tap and connecting it to the output stage bias(25 V), however, the hum did not go away that's why I decided to try the DC filament heater option. Fortunately for me, it solved the problem.
