Hi all. im a bit new to this full range driver thing and im gonna try my hand at a pair. Microtowers for a pair of ma chr-70. i was wondering if anyone knows if i can put a flared port on the base? If so would this alter the dimensions of the port? Im thinking of putting a base on as shown on the plans too.

if you're talking about a gently flared plastic port, my intuition is it'd be fine - but anything much more aggressive than that might alter the tuning characteristics

I found that with the thickly padded carpet in my living room an extra 1" or so of clearance under the ports helped tighten bass response quite a bit. As the boxes were already finished, I simply sat them on top of a pair of quartz countertop off-cuts, but you could extend the arched feet or add a solid wood / tile plate etc to form a base plinth.

Thanks for the reply. i wasnt wanting something too aggressive but just a small flare to reduce any port noise(if any would be present that is). First instinct was to use pvc to the specced diameter and counter sink it into the wood then round over the end. They will sit on laminate flooring so carpet should not be a problem.
