Composite Decking Speaker stands

Was down at my building supply store, and noticed they had finally brought in 4x4 Trex posts. Approx $4/ft retail, but a nice solid, heavy, non-resonant feel to them. Attach a base at each end and you've got a pre-finished speaker stand with little effort.

Note: They have a 1" hole in the middle you could use to route speaker wiring as well.

Finally something useful to do with that composite decking. I can probably scrounge up a few 3ft offcuts for pennies on the dollar as well.

Interesting.

I noticed another interesting "source" for speaker stands recently. My local Hobby Lobby has dozens of different knick-knack stands of generally the right height - from fifteen to fifty dollars a pair. They're not particularly non-resonant, but could be modified. Some of them are interesting designs of wrought metal, wood, fake-crete, faux/real marble, stamped steel, etc.

Just another idea in case anyone hadn't thought to stop in and look.
