I killed the battery in the car. It was a very quiet Sunday morning today. I was up early heading out for a coffee, a little too early to start banging on doors and phoning friends and the tow truck people, well that's a fast $50 gone in the wind.
I took the battery out of my little NCR 260 Watt UPS, hooked it up and voila! I covered up the lugs on the battery and tossed it into the tire storage compartment.
Slight delay on the caffeine intake but good times nonetheless.
Just thought I'd share that.
Shawn.

dnsey said:Nice idea - but the car's charging system won't do the SLA battery any good at all! Charge the proper one and refit it ASAP, or you'll be paying for a new UPS battery.
Are you kidding? I disconnected ASAP!
I'm just suprised the tiny cell did the job.

Honda Civic Hatch back! Like starting a golf cart I guess, but still.
XEAGLEKEEPER said:Make up a cable with two alligator clips to connect to battery and a cigarette lighter plug on the other end then you can just plug your emergency battery(UPS or whatever into the cigarette lighter and start your auto) it works on my old pontiac.
Of course! I've sen those things in stores. Why bother popping the hood?
