How to clean the CD-laser lenses? With alcohol or without alcohol?

Cleaning a CD drive lense never gave me any result. That is just a waste of time. The CD unit must be replaced.

Thanks Mchambin. I do have a spare laser unit for the P990/P350.

I slightly damped Johnson baby buds with water and cleaned and drier the laser glass. Also clean rails with IPA, and then re greased

Working very well again

Does anyone know what the blueish/greenish coating was made of?
Because of the tint I assume it was for damping straylight in the infrared
spectrum?

I think it is an anti-reflection coating, for the same purpose as the coating on camera lenses. (Forward and reflected lightwaves are 180° at the specific wavelength, so reflected wave is cancelled, thus forward light is increased, in effect the lens is more transparent)
