I am going to be purchasing one of the CD-rom controllers that are available from various sources and wanted to start shopping around for the CD-ROM. I pulled apart a few that we had laying around work and I'm not sure that any of them are particularly impressively built. Can anyone recommend a brand/model with above average build quality?
I will probably be pulling the transport out of the chassis and mounting it to my own rather than just mounting the drive in a case. I have also given some consideration to a slot load style CD-rom, but I haven't had much luck in finding one that I like.
I have read through 4-5 CD-rom threads and haven't seen any mention to particular models, but did see a few "Pioneer CD-rom" references.
What are your experiences?
