Has anyone "successfully" implemented a crossover for the ZD5 using a Minidsp?
If so, would you care to share settings?
I picked up one SS 15W cheaply, and since I already have pair of XT25s and a 2x4 minidsp, I thought I would play around with this design. Already built one sealed enclosure for test purposes.
Cheers

Zaph conveniently provides the transfer function to dial into the miniDSP, shouldn't be too hard.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Finally built a pair of 0.5cu ft sealed ZD5 cabinets.
Connected my two stereo Symasym amps via minidsp.
Inputs to the minidsp are LF 1st order BW @ 560hz, HF 2nd order BW @4200hz, Inverted polarity and 0.4us delay, tweeter level reduced by 7db (still evaluating ). 2db cut at 950hz.
These little jewels sound amazing. Soundstage, imaging. Lots of amblience. Live performances are the best I have heard. Good bass too.
Anyone have similar experiences?

I also built myself a sealed pair of those years ago but with Zaph's passive xo. I took the time to build the best cabinets I possibly could for them too and the results knocked my socks off. Paired with a sub though to get those lowest notes, to reduce the demands on the 15W and so they could play a little louder too.
You have some serious enjoyment ahead of you my friend. 😀😀

Note that the ZD5 design also includes an all-pass filter which would need to be replicated on the MiniDSP to faithfully reproduce the passive crossover, otherwise the woofer and tweeter won't be time aligned.Zaph conveniently provides the transfer function to dial into the miniDSP, shouldn't be too hard.
Not sure if they have added all-pass filters to the current software, although on older versions you could make an all-pass filter by entering the appropriate biquad coefficients into the parametric EQ.
Another method would be to just add a delay to the tweeter instead of the all-pass, although that would be modifying the design.

Thanks so much really sound great, I tried so many time to get the ZD5 to sound right and I was never successful till I tried those settings. the only thing I do differently is I don't Inverted polarity, why do you do that ? doesn't sound right when I try it. anyways Thanks again ,, David
