Granted, I am not the brightest light bulb in modern tech knowledge . . .
With my version of FreeDownloadManager, I can get most formats / files onto my drive, but Youtube vids seem 100% resistant to being downloaded.
I AM ATTEMPTING TO CAPTURE THOSE VIDS AT THE ORIGINAL YOUTUBE URL, NOT A SECONDARY PATH. So, any helpful hints --- what am I doing wrong ?

They've blocked it here too. I've tried every method imaginable aswell.
There was one which worked, right click on the video image and select "copy download link" and then paste it into a new tab, and it should download it directly. That worked for me once.
I too tried to get a home movie back off youtube but was unable to.

Thanks for the reply, Freax --- I hope other forum members will also share their experiences with Youtube downloads -- successful or not.
If you use Firefox the following add-ons still work, (Easy Youtube Video Downloader Express 7.37) and (1-Click YouTube Video Downloader 2.3.7). They have a ****** UI but they do work which is all that matters.
[YouTube Video and Audio Downloader] Add-on in FIREFOX works fine.
Also allows you to extract audio track on the fly if you need it.

I really like the way it interfaces with the page you're browsing on_i.e. a
little click on arrow.

Freemake works with youtube (in the UK with Chrome at any rate) It hasn't caused me any obvious problems since it has been installed.

You can knock me down with a feather - just came across a posting which was available in 4K resolution - yes, 2160p quality! ... well, guess I'd better check latest broadband prices ... 😀, 😉.
I have been using Real Downloader that comes with Real Player. It worked good for years, then quit working a few months ago. Real Player released an update about a month ago that fixed it. Now it works again.
I saw a 1440P video last night. I don't have any way of playing that resolution though.
