Yamaha RX-A1030 Owner's Manual: Troubleshooting; Power, System And Remote ControlHold down MAIN ZONE z on the front panel for more than 10 seconds to initialize and reboot the unit. (If the problem persists, disconnect the power cable from the AC wall outlet and plug it again.)
Dan.
Dan,
I will try that once he brings it..I am sure he has
tried the reset. I am thinking he has cranked it up
and blew a output transistor.

Likely.
The manual mentions lockout after three protection incidents.
The protection could be enacted because of blown output stage, or shorting of speaker wires.

Hi Dan,
My friend dropped off the Receiver today. Ok., I haven't ordered
the service manual yet. This is where am at.Unit has a blinking
read light for a few seconds, then shuts off. No problem. Pulled cover
off and found a power supply board.Did some transistor readings
and found what is called a Shotky diode. It has 3 legs on it.
Are u familiar with theses diodes? Trying to find more info on them

Sure.. the number is RB215t.. this one is gonna be kinda tricky to troubleshoot
due to power shuts down during startup.

Without the manual you are going to be out of your depth.
$10.00 and you will have fault finding procedures.

I repair these units everyday, highly recommend take to a trained Yamaha service agent especially if you don't how to disengage the protection circuit
yes I understand this is a DIY forum but this is not the kind of unit to learn basic service procedures on 😎

Ya know, this is a diy forumn..if you can't offer some trouble shooting tips and
advice, you might as well keep your comments to yourself.I know from your last reply
you are a trained technician.Give some credit to those who are trying to learn and figure
out the problems they come across when trying to troubleshoot a problem.
