Yamaha DSP-AZ1 no power

Hi folks!

I have an old Yamaha DSP AZ1 AV amplifier that i got from a friend of mine. Its super heavy and was the flagship of surround receivers when it came out back around 2K.
This thing just wont seem to power on. After googling around a bit I found that there is a diagnostic mode if i hold in the power button and some other buttons at the same time. So I did that and suddenly the display lid up and i got the menu. At the very end on this menu it says standby in red color. I tried to uncheck that standby with my remote control but no luck.

After reading about other people having power issues with yamaha receivers I have a feeling this could be something of a common problem with older yamaha´s. I suspect it might be a capacitor gone bad in the power standby system. Im not an electrician but I have a hunch it might be the capacitor c755. Is there anyone that knows about this issue with these receivers or someone her that can help me with any tips on what to look for etc?

Thank you so much!🙂

Usually, through no fault of the amplifier, the user plays a non surround source, can't hear the rear speakers, turns the volume up full to get a bit of something. Forgets about that and then plays a surround sound source taking the rear amplifiers out and causing standby error as you described.
Check the output stages of all amplifiers for DC on the speaker line or open circuit load resistors and shorted output transistors.

I took out the pcb and it was a crack in the corner where theres a earth connection to the chassi. I knew about this but did not think this would prevent the unit from powering up. There is two earth connections on this pcb, the other one is just fine. Wow this was a surprise! Anyway, problem solved. Thanx for replying!
